Establishment of a Geographic Data Dictionnary: a case study of UrbIS 2©, the Brussels Regional Government GIS

Abstract

This article focuses on the establishment of a geographical database dictionary. It develops the elaboration process of the Brussels UrbIS© data dictionary. It presents the experience gained in the field of urban data management from a practical study. It describes the problems and difficulties encountered, as well as the proposed solutions and perspectives on future improvements to this data dictionary. This expertise could be applied to the development of geographic data dictionaries in similar cases.
